News

17 January 2012

Firstly, The L.I.E.S show has been extended until 21 January.

The 'Résumé' page now has details of the two-person show in the US to which I alluded earlier, plus those of a drawing exhibition in Paris which will feature two important Hipkiss works.

In other exciting news, Galerie Susanne Zander will be showing Hipkiss in their booth at Art Basel this year. More on this to follow.

Apologies, once again, for the lack of image updates, but watch this space for a radical overhaul of the Gallery area, including the latest drawings, in the coming weeks.

Diving in for a quick update before the solo show in Cologne, Germany. Thanks to the acquisition of the A∴c∴h∴e∴ drawings (watch this space for the 'unveiling'), which enabled the making of an exhibition featuring only new works, The L.I.E.S promises to be a very special event. See Crow Parliament for invitations and press release in German and English.

Or for more information, visit the gallery - Galerie Susanne Zander - here.

Hipkiss will also feature in another group show, curated by artist Michael Bauer, in Turin this month (see 'Résumé' page), and watch out for news of a major US exhibition in the near future.

Images for the whole year will be up very soon!

20 August 2011

Apologies, but this update still doesn't feature new images. When I have a few free hours, it will happen. Until then, there is news of several more current and upcoming shows on the 'Résumé' page, including a solo in Germany in the Autumn, preparations for which are keeping the Hipkiss household busy.

Meanwhile, Hey! magazine - whose forthcoming show in Paris will feature Hipkiss - produced a very fine article with great quality images, amongst them, one of a new colour work. To purchase a copy, go here

We're nearly as bad at updating over at Crow Parliament as we are here, but you will find an image, there, of the seven pieces of A∴c∴h∴e∴; hopefully soon there will be news of where and when they are to be shown. Phase II - the monster canvas of the parts, to be reworked in various media - is being formulated.

13 February 2011

Hipkiss is, or will soon be, on show in several countries. See the 'Résumé' page for news of ongoing/upcoming exhibitions. Look out for a big update, including new press cuttings and (finally!) images shortly.

20 November 2010

You'll find news of two group shows on the 'Résumé' page, plus two new PDFs on the 'Press' page. Meanwhile, A∴c∴h∴e∴ is progressing well; new images to follow shortly...

1 August 2010

As you'll notice, the gallery page is now current and consolidated. Many thanks to Nico Van der Endt for supplying images of Cluc for the Bas and Your Family Hate Cake. Of special interest may be A∴c∴h∴e∴1, which is the first segment of a new Hipkiss 'monster' panorama; it will be the first such work since 1997 and the largest so far.

Announcing a new blog – Crow Parliament – by Alpha Mason and Chris Hipkiss. Apart from insights into the latter's creative processes, our aim is to bring issues concerning the self-taught art-world, in general, up for discussion.

There are a couple of additions to the 'Résumé' page. Look out for the 2010 image page, appearing very soon...

Many thanks to Galerie Michael Haas, via Philipp do Brito at Galerie Susanne Zander, for the images of the mHm triptych.

21 September 2009

We heard, today, that Pallant House are cancelling the talk intended to take place on the 24 September due to technical issues. Since we and Rose Knox-Peebles have already committed some time and effort to preparing an interesting presentation, we will be conducting the interview and making it available – probably as a PowerPoint file for download – on this site. Apologies to any who had planned to attend the event; hopefully, in this way, we can make it up to them at the same time as providing a valuable new insight into the artist for all.

9 September 2009

Firstly, for anyone who has bought tickets or is intending to go, we must inform you that Chris Hipkiss will NOT be speaking in person at Pallant House, as announced below. This regrettable decision was made after much soul-searching - a consequence of a cascade of unfortunate personal events and circumstances. The intention is to hold an interactive video session instead, so audience members will still have the opportunity for discussion with the artist. Unfortunately, there is no way to hold the afternoon workshop which was planned for the same day.

In more positive news, this autumn will see Hipkiss shown in no less than eight venues in various countries. Notable is the first ever show in Berlin, a solo at the Galerie Michael Haas. Six brand new pieces will be on display, in addition to several other recent works, plus a rare chance to see a couple of drawings from the early 1990's. Contact the gallery for an invitation or to purchase a catalogue.

New images will be added to the site shortly.

We Cutted it, So Why Bait Me? is currently on show in Schleswig, Germany. Full details on the Résumé page.

17 June 2009

Courtesy of French artist and publisher, Blanquet, and his United Dead Artists imprint, we are pleased to announce the availability of the first ever publication dedicated to the work of Hipkiss. Rendered in black and white, from large format colour transparencies, image quality is superb, and the size of this soft-cover edition allows for a much better idea of the works as they are 'in the flesh' than is ever possible on screen. A poetic piece by New York art writer, Randall Morris, graces the back of a giant poster of the 2009 drawing, Dreizehn Hassminen. With an initial print run of 1000, this edition is likely to sell out quickly. Purchase information is on the 'Acquire' page...

Further news, from a press release from the Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, England:

Welcome to the new 'News' page, which is intended to make information concerning exciting happenings in the offing more accessible to passing visitors. Exciting happenings at the moment include the launch of the first ever book of Hipkiss images. The link for purchase will be added in the coming days, so watch this space for further details.

Meanwhile, for those in Belgium or close by, several significant Hipkiss works are currently on show at the Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke.
